Irish cheeses

Irish cheeses
© Bord Bia

In order to create the perfect cheese board, make sure the cheeses are served at room temperature, allowing them to warm up gradually.  Always serve a variety to include different tastes, textures and colours, for example a blue, a goat, a washed rind and a soft.

Although good enough to be served on its own, Irish farmhouse cheese works very well with fresh crusty bread or simple oat biscuits. In-season fruit can also make a great accompaniment: Durrus is particularly good with pear, while fresh crisp apple sets off the salty sweet taste of Cashel Blue perfectly.
