Swimming workouts are calm, serene even, but still will work to tone everything from your abs to your glutes. Plus if you have an injury or are just getting back into exercise, swimming workouts are the perfect balance of gentle and effective exercises.
In the water if you want to work yourself hard then you can - it's entirely up to you and because the water offers support and resistance every exercise you do in the pool works those muscles that little bit more.
We spoke to former Olympic swimmer and Speedo Swim Fitness Adviser Karen Pickering, who gave us her top tips for all-over swimming workouts.
