Talking money is hardly the happiest topic when you’re planning a wedding but realistically those bouquets, bridesmaids and booze do not magic themselves out of thin air…

So that brings us onto that slightly awkward subject, who pays for what at a wedding?

We all know that traditionally it was the bride's family that used to foot the bill but we’ve all moved on from the days of dowries and ‘wedding nights’ and so in this newfound age of equality who pays for what at a wedding – and how do you ask?

Well, we spoke to various wedding planners to see who foots the wedding bill traditionally and what most couples do now.
