It's wedding season, so bring on weekends filled with romance, dancing, drinking and reunions with family and friends. Good times! But wedding season also comes with the panic of what to wear, and of course we are here to help. We've put together do's and don'ts along side some outfit ideas to help you work out what to wear to a summer wedding, so all you have to worry about is having a good time.

Before we get into the actual outfits, they are a few do's and don'ts you need to know.

Do Read The Invite

The invite is the biggest clue of what you can wear to a summer wedding. The style of the invitation alone should let you know what you are in for, and the lingo is the most obvious clue. Is it a "casual wedding", or a "cocktail event"? Every wedding theme calls for a different outfit.

Do Layer Up

Layering up is crucial for an outdoor wedding. Yes it may be summer, but if the wedding is in the UK, you should know that summer never really means summer. So if you are going to wear a light outfit, make sure you layer up with a cute blazer, or a shawl.

Do Make An Effort

It's a wedding, two people are vowing to be together forever, which is a pretty big deal, dress up for the occasion. Wear a fancy dress, a bold colour, heels, remember pictures will be taken. You don't want to be the girl that didn't even try.

Don't Wear White

Right so this is a rule we all should know by now. I know that some people say it's ok to wear white to a wedding. IT'S NOT! This day is not about you, I repeat this day is not about you, and you shouldn't do anything to deter attention away from the bride.

Don't Wear Anything Too Revealing

Regardless of the partying and the drinks, a wedding is still a formal affair. Don't go too short, or too booby. And again this is not about you, it's not your chance to try and out do the bride. And you might get a few stares, for all the wrong reasons.

Finding The Perfect Wedding Outfit

So now you know the do's and don'ts, it's time let go of that 'go-to wedding outfit', you wore to every wedding last year, it's time to give it a rest.

This nuptial season you shall be stylish, gorgeous and appropriate, no matter the wedding theme. So from a bohemian wedding to a fancy black tie affair, we've shopped around for the best outfits.

Cocktail Affair

A cocktail dress code calls for an outfit that is party ready. So think short, elegant dresses, but not too short, it's a wedding after all.

Seaside Love

So once you get over the excitement of being by the seaside, a beach wedding can be a little difficult to dress for. But this is the perfect time to dress up your summer maxis and possibly the only time you can get away with wearing flat sandals to a wedding.

Casual Cool Bliss

Casual usually means, any thing goes. However jeans, shorts or vest tops are still not appropriate for a wedding. So go for a more smart casual outfit, I am talking co-ords , a pencil skirt or smart trousers with a fancy blouse.

La Vie Boheme

A bohemian theme is becoming increasingly popular for summer weddings. Think outdoors, a rustic barn in the middle of the country somewhere. It's carefree and relaxed. A flowy maxi is perfect for the theme, yet dressy enough to honour the special occasion.

Black Tie

This is the most formal wedding dress code you can get, think the Oscars then take it down a couple of notches to the NTA's. A black tie dress code, calls for an elegant floor length dress. It's not often you get to dress like this so take full advantage of it.
