In 2006, the BBC polled around 46,000 members of the British public to find out their attitudes towards cheating.

A shocking one in five married men admitted to infidelity, whilst one in four admitted they would cheat if there was a guarantee they wouldn’t be found out.

Even those who claimed they wouldn’t cheat were hardly whiter than white, with eighty four per cent admitting they were regularly attracted to other women other than their wives.

In comparison, just one in ten married women admitted to being unfaithful, whilst a meager nine per cent said they would consider a fling if they knew they would get away with it.
