Why Mindy Kaling Is So Right About 'The Back Door Slip'

Because Mindy Kaling has this psychic ability to say what all girls are thinking, it came at no surprise last week when she had last week's episode of The Mindy Project center around "the back door slip." Or in layman's terms: when you're mid hookup and the guy tries to instigate anal sex by "accidentally" trying to stick it where the sun don't shine when you're doing it from behind. News flash: that is never an accident.

So evidently Mindy Kaling's hilarious episode of The Mindy Project did not go over so well with some of the viewers of the Fox show. They believed that anal sex was too crude of a topic for the comedy show to cover. However, we agree with Mindy when we say au contraire! Almost every girl that is in a sexually active relationship has had the moment where the guy tries to initiate anal sex by just slipping it in. If you let it happen they think they "yes! they've been wanting to do it all this time too," and if you pull a Mindy and say WTF ARE YOU DOING then the guy immediately says it was an accident. Classic.

So what was Mindy's response to the complaints that her accurate portrayal of that awkward moment and subsequent conversation were too crude for TV? Epic, honest truth:

"There are nine of us in the writers room and if something is making us debate issues or we are scared by it, a lot of times that means we should do it. Although it's taboo, it was so relatable to everybody in the room. We wanted to acknowledge that everybody deals with this but nobody wants to talk about it."

So what does this incident teach us? That usually the "back door slip" happens because guys feel too awkward to have the "would you be comfortable having anal sex?" talk. Or your guy may think you are more sexually experienced than he is so he doesn't want to seem like a sexual novice by bringing it up. So in order to avoid an unpleasant surprise when all you really want is a romantic, one-way ticket to poundtown, just be an adult and have the conversation before. If you're both comfortable with it? Go for it.
