Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller

The infamous Tropic of Cancer ($12.12) was banned in Britain for nearly thirty years after it was first published in 1934.

Henry Miller wrote it when he moved to Paris — he left a failing marriage and unhappy career in America — and became a central figure in the Bohemian culture.

It's part fictional, part autobiographic, and describes a seriously erotic life among the prostitutes, pimps, painters and writers of the passionate city.
