Megan: "Not really up for it"

Megan: "Not really up for it"

Megan, 27, is a medical student. She has a boyfriend but they don't live together.

Anal sex doesn't really appeal. At the beginning of my sex life, I was really against it, for several seasons: the symbolic aspect, I didn't think anal penetration was in any way romantic, I didn't see how it you could get pleasure from it and I thought it was degrading.

Also, from a practical point of view how do you avoid unpleasant "accidents"? It seemed pretty off-putting to me.

Over time, as I got more sexual experience, I realized that if I'm really turned on I can be up for anal sex. But it's difficult, because it has to be with the right person who knows how to do it gently, so that it doesn't hurt.

I tried it a couple of times, but my body really didn't want to, I think because I still wasn't mentally ready. I wasn't bothered, because I didn't want it all that much anyway - you can have a perfectly satisfying sex life without anal.
