Science Has Spoken: 7 Reasons to Make Love Everyday!

by Laurence-Emmanuelle Bédard Published on April 17, 2015

Sex should never be a chore. Rather, it offers many benefits – and much evidence supports that claim! Our thanks to Mother Nature for these seven reasons to have sexual relations everyday!

1. Sex Keeps You in Shape!

The scientific journal PLOS ONE has published a study according to which, among youths, sexual relations burn, on average, 4.2 calories per minute for men and 3.1 calories per minute for women. In the course of your most passionate lovemaking, you can lose up to 7.1 calories per minute! Do the math: if you make love twice a week, for twenty minutes a time, you will burn more than 6000 calories a year! Incredible, is it not? It offers you a much more enjoyable and affordable exercise program than any gym.

2. Lovemaking Keeps You Young!

An Oxford University study reveals that sex increases the production of the androgen DHEA, a natural steroid, also known as the anti-aging hormone! During intercourse, DHEA is secreted in the body and, upon orgasm, its level in the blood rises to five times its normal value. Better still, women who make love more frequently secrete higher levels of estrogen. This ensures that the skin is softer and more radiant. A higher level of estrogen also protects against heart disease, osteoporosis, and, potentially, Alzheimer's disease.

3. It's Good for the Morale!

A Scottish study found that people (especially women) who have more sex have lower blood pressure than those who abstain from sex. A study conducted at Brigham Young University came to the same conclusions. In addition, an Australian study found that people who reach climax at least three times a week are 50% less likely to die from any medical reason that those who do not experience orgasm.

4. Sex Is Good for the Skin

If sex is as practical as jogging for burning calories, researchers at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital have determined that it is also great for your skin. Indeed, during lovemaking, higher levels of oxygen are pumped throughout the body, which increases the blood circulation that carries nutrients to the skin. Surface epidermal cells are renewed, giving the skin a healthy appearance. Women who have frequent sexual intercourse thus have better skin than those who do not. So drop the facial creams and go roll in the hay instead!

5. Sex Can Make Your Day

The first 20 minutes of your day can be decisive for how it turns out. Why not start it in style? Dr. Debby Herbenick, author of many books on sexuality, found that adults that begin their day with sex are not only in a better mood, but also have a stronger immune system! So before you rush to prepare your coffee tomorrow, take a few extra minutes under the duvet!

6. Relations Rid You of Menstrual Cramps

According to Dr. Jennie Campbell Leslie, the muscle contractions that accompany a woman's orgasm can relieve muscle tension in the uterus, the primary cause of menstrual cramps. Alleviating that tension thus significantly reduces the pain associated with menstruation. According to this American doctor, sex and masturbation are beneficial for many reasons! What good news!

7. Sexual Relations Reduce Pain

Dr. Barry R. Komisaruk of Rutgers University in New Jersey, conducted a study showing that orgasms can block pain. In his research, he found that vaginal stimulation can block chronic back pain. He also demonstrated that many women have their menstrual pain diminished through masturbation. This is also valid for arthritic pain and headaches. So ladies, what are you waiting for?!
