Meaning and analysis of erotic dreams about rape

The psychologist's analysis

> Key symbols:
- The rubbish tip suggests sexuality linked to something dirty.
- The balaclavas indicate that she wanted to see certain things but not others.
- The newsagents portrays a communication problem.

> Meaning: This is a frequent dream where a woman is alone, surrounded by a group of men. But what really stands out to me in this dream are the constant contrasts: some of the men are wearing balaclavas and some aren't, some of the men are taking part while some aren't, she finds herself at her parents' with two of the "attackers". She seems to be experiencing double sexuality with both a clean, wholesome sex life (drinking tea while lifting one's finger!) and a dirtier sex life (in a rubbish tip). There is a divide within her, it's as if she feels the need to revolt against her background.

> What can she do? She mustn't think that she's suppressing a desire for this young man whom she crosses path with in the newsagents. She's simply trying to connect her dream to something real. On the other hand, she must ask herself a question: does she think that sex is dirty? That might possibly mean that she doesn't like it. In her dream, there's a man looking at her, he probably represents her masculine side expressing itself. Emma needs to resolve a communication problem that she has with herself.
