Surrogacy involves a women, outside of the couple, carrying their baby in place of the mother to be.

There are two types of surrogacy: Host (gestational), is where an embryo is transferred to the surrogate mother through IVF, and Straight (traditional), where the surrogate donates one of their own eggs.

While the latter means the baby will only be one of their parents biological child; medically it has more chance of success and is therefore less stressful for all.
