Is it normal if...? Your pregnancy questions answered

Emotions and pregnancy

It's normal to become more emotional, especially at the beginning of your pregnancy. Just like fits of laughter, floods of tears are another part of the experience of being pregnant. Your up-and-down emotions can be a result of hormonal changes, but they can also be down to psychological changes and fears related to your new situation. Your whole life and future is about to change, while worries about the birth can start to fill your mind and make you easily upset.

However, if you're struggling to cope with your pregnancy, don't be afraid to confide in your doctor.
"Pregnancy isn't an easy experience, and you mustn't be ashamed if you're finding it difficult to cope with, especially if it's your first pregnancy. Talking about your concerns can really help", notes Dr Goupil-Rousseau.
