Best places in Montreal to ring in 2016

by Marie-Sarah Published on December 18, 2015

If, like me, you’ve had your share of bad New Year’s Eve experiences (being in a cab at midnight, losing your keys, not finding a cab because of a snowstorm, getting wasted before the countdown starts), let 2016 be the year that changes all that! Here are our suggestions for a festive and unforgettable evening that goes off without a hitch!

Outdoor Parties

DJ Poirier at Place des Arts
Why not dance the night away at the Grand Marché de Noël de Montréal à la Place des Arts? The party held as part of this large Christmas market will feature DJ YRO at 8:00 p.m. and the ever popular DJ Poirier at 11:00 p.m. The weather should still be mild so make the most of it!

Merry Montreal’s New Year’s Eve Party
The Old Port and Place-Jacques-Cartier will come to life at 7:00 p.m. as such talented Quebec artists as Dumas, Yann Perreau, Bernard Adamus, and Cœur de Pirate take to the stage. The midnight fireworks are sure to be spectacular!

Indoor Parties

The SAT’s New Year’s Eve Party
In keeping with tradition, the Société des arts technologiques will open its doors on December 31st for a memorable party on two floors, with 10 DJs and VJs helping you get your groove on!

Fluid New Years Eve 2016 at Club Soda
This all-inclusive event has been around since 1999! If you enjoy dancing to hip-hop, house and old school music, this party is for you!

Paradis perdu New Year’s Eve party at Auberge Saint-Gabriel
If you enjoy fine dining and glamour, Auberge Saint-Gabriel is the place to be on New Year’s Eve. A gourmet dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m., followed by live music and dancing at 10:00 p.m.

Stop the Clock at the W
The two bars of the W Montreal hotel (Wunderbar and Plateau Lounge) will host an elegant evening of music and dancing, with DJs like Abeille Gélinas behind the turntables.

Resurrection 2016 at the Montreal Tower
For the first time ever, you can ring in the New Year in a place that has the best panoramic view of Montreal: the Montreal Tower in Olympic Park! You can either party to 80s & 90s music on the upper floor or to Latin music on the lower floor.

Slow to Speak at Bleury bar à vinyles
Expect these two hot DJs to kill it for their many techno and house fans at Bleury bar à vinyles. Based on their past performances, it should be an unforgettable evening.

NYE 2016 with Kaytranada & Benji B at Artgang Montréal
DJ Kaytranada and friends, including Benji B and Stwo, vow that this year’s New Year’s Eve party at Plaza Saint-Hubert will be a blast. This one’s a sure thing if you ask me!
