Actor George is said to be relocating to southern Italy and wants the Mission Impossible actor to take the property off his hands.
Tom, who split from Katie Holmes last month, was rumoured to be looking for property in New York to be close to daughter Suri — but now it looks like he could be moving to a completely new continent.
George apparently heard that Tom was eyeing up an Italian property north of Rome and so decided to get in touch to try and convince him to take over his Villa Oleandra.
Tom and George are said to be in talks to "strike a deal", with George, 51, keen to move because his partner Stacey Keibler, 32, reportedly isn't a fan of the lakes near Milan.
Tom, 50, and Katie, 33, reached a divorce settlement just weeks after announcing their break-up following six years of marriage.
They said in a statement: "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests.
"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."
