Money saving secrets: Save money this summer
Cut down on transport

Cut down on transport

Tip No.#3 Cut down your transport costs

Look into ways of reducing what you spend on transport. If you drive to work, consider car-pooling to share the cost and reduce wear and tear on your car, or consider public transport.

Buy season tickets if you regularly use the bus / train / tube as season tickets can work out much cheaper for regular travel.

Also consider buying a rail card for frequent rail travel. A 'Family and Friends' rail card costs £26 and will save you 1/3 on adult fares and 60 per cent on child fares.

If you can walk to work why not try it for a week and see how much you save? You'll also be getting a decent work out which means you could even reconsider the need for a gym membership. Two birds, one stone...
