Jean Paul Gaultier: dramatic eye make up - eyeliner

On the podiums
Eyeliner made a huge comeback this season. Graphic at Christian Lacroix and Gaultier, retro at Dior, the trend was for feline, glamorous peepers.
In your mirror
Here are the three steps to vibrant catwalk eyes in the comfort of your own home:

> Eyeshadow
Start by applying a light powder (use a pearly shade for evening) all over your mobile lids with a brush. Then apply the surplus powder underneath your eyes, at the base of your lower lashes, and especially to the inside corners of your eyes.

> Liner
To make life easier, use either a pen or pencil. Draw your line, starting from the inside corner of your eye, and stop when you're three-quarters of the way there. Then start at the outside corner and bring the lines to meet each other so that you get a fine, flawless line. For added effect, extend the end of your line with a flick upwards towards your brows, or extend out to create a short, almost rectangular shape à la Cleopatra.

> Mascara
Set off your eyes with lengthening mascara. Apply a few coats, moving from the centre outwards rather than from bottom to top.
