Make-up trends autumn/winter 2009-2010: black make-up

Black is black: the 70s disco hit is a fitting anthem for this season's trends. Black famously never goes out, but it's a staple this autumn/winter.

The Little Black Dress, pioneered by Chanel in the 1920s, is key to this season's catwalk collections, symbolizing sober, more conscious fashion as well as eternal, flattering chic. Sharon Wauchob updated the classic LBD with sequins and heavy fringing (left), while Balmain's had a rock'n'roll feel (right).
