Walk: Art in Yanaka
Located in the shitamachi, the old downtown of Tokyo, the neighborhoods of Nezu and Yanaka make for a peaceful stroll. Rent a paddleboat or visit a temple in nearby Ueno Park, eat at one of many sublime tea houses or cafes, and soak in the small-alley feel of this tranquil part of town.
Yanaka is also a great place to see and buy art. You’ll find lots of independent galleries in the meandering streets and alleys. One of our favorites is Scai the Bathhouse, a former bathhouse spot turned gallery. The gorgeous structure is now home to rotating exhibits, featuring both local and international artists.
