Tokyo: Luxury for all the senses

Our top ten Tokyo treats
Our top ten Tokyo treats

Tokyo is a place where you can find almost anything you might want—from chic to funky, frenetic to Zen. You can revel in the side of the city that never sleeps, or you can seek out hot springs and temples that exude serenity.
As for the food? Tokyo has some of the world’s top restaurants, and certainly the world’s best sushi. There’s nothing more exciting than going to the source for a sumptuous sushi meal at Tokyo’s legendary Tsukiji market. Go early in the morning to see the day’s catch coming in, and then treat yourself to a sushi feast in one of the many nearby restaurants.
Tokyo is also a place where you can shop until you drop. Browse the small boutiques and galleries in some of the city’s trendiest neighborhoods for one-of-a-kind fashions or hit up the big department stores for one-stop shopping.
We’ve put together a guide that has a little of everything—from high energy to mellow—intended to satisfy all of your senses. Eat, sleep, taste, shop, sing your way through Tokyo! And if all of the neon and karaoke leaves you drained, we’ve also included a couple of day excursions that will show you a decidedly less urban side of Japan.
