Restaurant: The Glassboat

Every one in Bristol has heard of the Glassboat. With inner city space being at a premium, this novel idea for an elegant restaurant was made reality in 1986 by the Swede Arne Ringner, hence the Swedish flag flying on its stern.

The boat was originally an timber barge, and was reclaimed and converted into a floating botanical garden café.

The plush interior is contrasted by large glass windows and everything used in the refurbishment was reclaimed from Bristol's architectural heritage, from the walnut floors to the solid marble bar.
The restaurant has held on to its past whilst catering to the modern discerning diner.
The seasonal menu includes a seared scallops starter, mains such as locally caught “fish of the day”, vegetarian beetroot tart tatin, rib eye steak, and greengage tart for dessert. The wine connoisseur will not be disappointed with a choice of 150 wines.
