Spa Indochine at the Hotel de la Paix © Tamara Hinson
Name: Spa Indochine at the Hotel de la Paix, Siem Reap, Cambodia
Address: Hotel de la Paix, Sivutha Boulevard, Siem Reap, Cambodia
Price range: £27 - £140
Location: The spa and hotel are located on the main road which runs through Siem Reap, and a short walk from the town centre.
Ambience: Cambodian hospitality with a dash of luxury. Staff pride themselves on tailoring treatments to the guest’s individual needs. I loved the sense of space – the five treatment rooms are laid out over two floors and there’s a roof top terrace. I also appreciated the little touches, such as the flower filled bowl placed underneath the hole in the bed where my head went – so much more appealing than staring at a tiled floor for hours on end!
Etiquette: The emphasis is on wearing whatever’s comfortable although therapists advise guests to strip off and change into the robe and slippers provided.
Experience: After a soothing foot scrub and an “aromatic glow” skin cleanse, I was treated to rigorous full body scrub before being left to marinate in a fragrant wrap. This was followed by a deliciously firm massage (which even involved the therapist squatting above me on the massage bed!) before a moisturizing herbal elixir was applied. I loved the firmness of the massage, and while I’d never had a wrap before, the next day my skin was still fabulously soft.
Most expensive treatment: The Angkor Wat – a foot scrub, body scrub, body wrap, massage, facial and herbal elixir. £140.00.
Least expensive treatment: Hand, arm, foot and leg massages start at £27.00.
