A lawyer in Cameroon, this combatant for equality, respect and human dignity dedicates her life to defending the rights of sexual minorities. It’s an arduous battle in Cameroon.

While attending the Montreal Pride celebrations in 2011 (for which she was granted the title of Grand Marshal of the parade), Alice explained that Cameroon is a country where homosexuals are victims of the worst treatments: prison, steep fines, social exclusion, etc. Being homosexual is a crime written in the country’s penal code, with a justice system that’s completely homophobic.

Mrs Nkom is the only person in her country to defend the rights of homosexuals but she surely isn’t the only one to hope that one day Cameroon will become a country where equality of the sexes, respect and human dignity are recognized.
