Christmas is not a national holiday in Vietnam since the people here are mainly Buddhist or followers of Taoism and Confucianism. But some people (mainly Catholics) do celebrate, like my family does.
On Christmas Day I usually take time to go to the hairdressers to get a new haircut and style for the rest of the day. I always make sure that I have a nice dress ready for the celebration at night and I've been looking forward to wearing it from the day I got it!
At noon, I help my mother prepare the food. We usually have curry, egg soup, spring roll, cake and drink soft drinks or a little bit of wine.
In the afternoon, I go shopping to get some last minute Christmas gifts for my parents or my boyfriend. We usually give small things like cosmetics, shirts, etc. But I make sure that I send a nice "Merry Christmas" message to all my friends!
In the early evening, we go to church all together and meet many old family friends. We wish each other a Merry Christmas. After that, I spend time with my family at home and then it's time to party with friends until the early hours of the morning!
