Can they be dangerous?

No, they're not dangerous for your health, with the exception of cyclamate (an artificial sweetener found in some cheap fizzy drinks).

We should worry about anything that contains added nutrients (calcium, steroids, vitamins, etc) because you can easily overdose on these when you eat reduced-fat or light versions.

The Eueopean Commission recently confirmed that the sweetener aspartame is completely harmless to health.
