Gender battles in the ring

According to Liz, it’s not just boxing that got the short end of the stick at the London Olympics. “There were so many instances of the media coverage being so staggeringly sexist,” she says. “The coverage women do get is usually in traditionally feminine sports, like gymnastics and synchronized swimming.”

Liz writes frequently about women in sports because she’s endlessly motivated: “Every article I’ve written is out of this rage I get when I come across any kind of inequality or discrimination. I get mad about any kind of inequality, but when it’s related to women I have a personal edge that I think I can add. I have a perspective on how it’s not just numbers but it’s actually people.”
