Exercising to eat
“The pounds can quickly pile on at this time of year, not only do our diets change, but also our routines and habits as the more festivities we have planned, the less important our fitness becomes,” says Derek Crawford, UK national fitness manager for Fitness First.
Derek suggests a number of short workouts which are perfect for burning those extra Christmas calories, all of which can either be done at home, outdoors or in the gym.
So if you are indulging yourself cancel out your bad deeds with good ones. Here are Derek's eating elimination exercises for the Christmas season:
Calorie intake: 90kcal
Try 10 minutes on the cross trainer or power walking up hill.
1 Mince Pie
Calorie intake: 225kcals
Try 30 minutes of a Body Attack class and bring a friend for motivation.
Glass of Mulled Wine
Calorie intake: 245kcals
Try 30 minutes of an RPM/Group Cycling class or an hour’s bike ride
Christmas Pudding (1 serving)
Calorie intake: 291kcal
Try 30 minutes of running or jogging, either on the treadmill or in a park.
