I love my best friend: How to make it work

I love my best friend

It can be a bit of a shock when you realize for the first time: 'OMG, I love my best friend'. We don't mean 'I love my best friend they're so awesome' love, we mean head over heels love. The type where you want to spend weekends snuggling up reading the papers together, strolling across beaches hand in hand and, of course, getting intimate in the bedroom.

Falling in love with your best friend isn't necessarily a bad thing, if it works out it can be excellent. But of course if your friend doesn't feel the same way about you, it can be pretty upsetting.

So if you think you're in love with someone that close to you, should you tell them? And if they feel the same way, is it worth risking your friendship for?

We spoke to author and relationship expert Keren Smedley from Experience Matters. She told us that it's not unusual for sexual relationships to develop from friendships. "After all, ultimately you want your partner to be your best friend," she says.

Keren also gave us some tips on how to tell if your friend feels the same, finding ways to approach the subject with them and what to do if it doesn't work out.
