Every year, the Fashion and Design Festival lights up downtown Montreal for four days of outdoor fashion. For the 2012 edition, we were in for quite a treat: Quebec designers, commercial brands, and even a vintage piece or two! Here is a look back on what we think was MFDF’s best year yet!
We had our fashion face on to see the more than fifty fashion shows spread out over four days (August 1st - August 4th), featuring 80 lithe models gliding down the catwalk. More than 20 makeup artists and hairdressers were also on scene, so needless to say, the days were pretty full! The first day was most definitely the longest — 15 fashion shows! Quite a race...in stilettos of course.
In fact, the festivities opened with a literal race, to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. The festival-goers were then invited to the opening fashion show: the EDIT collection by Jeanne Beker. Fashion Television’s legendary host was present to show off pieces that every girl should have in her closet. Trendy and practical — what more can we ask for?
