Now that you're in your fifties, which direction would you like your career as a designer to take?
I'm starting to work on my third eau de parfum, I'm very enthusiastic because I love the olfactory world of perfume. I'm actually very moved when someone wears my perfume. I find it even more personal than when someone wears my clothes! It's an extension of the clothing and I've been dreaming of doing it for years!
I've made approximately 50 collections, I'm starting to find that I've done all the circuits, whereas in the world of perfume, I'm meeting people and discovering other raw materials that I didn't know about, like Turkish rose for example... I'm a bit like a child!
I've also started to make some accessories for the home, nothing grandiose but I wanted to put to use the raw materials that were left over from the clothing, and make accessories and objects for the home. I love interior design, it's a fascinating thing that I've found myself involved in! When you bring wellbeing to people, you bring them a piece of happiness, which isn't so easy to attain thesedays in the world in which we live.
A preoccupation that's becoming more and more important in my life is contemplation. Taking the time to sit down and look, reflect, enjoy. We should all do that on a daily basis. People need to get the most out of what they do. I have quite a considerable preoccupation with time, I turned 50 this year, time is valuable!
