Women's jeans: trends for autum/winter 2009-10

- Boyfriend jeans are still on trend, so much so that Levi's iconic 501s are enjoying a massive revival.

- Carrot pants (wide-waisted and tapered at the ankle) came onto the scene last winter. There are plenty of denim versions about this A/W, including pleated pairs.

- If you're used to wearing more chic denims, go for a classic, straight cut (which might even overtake the skinny jean this season). You'll find ripped, worn and studded varieties.

- Summer saw the return of stonewash
and there'll be no let-up this season. After a period where dark denim was dominant, used denim (especially on the thighs) is back in force.

- Faded grey and black head the field if you're after a rocky edge.

- Bright colours (pink, red, yellow, etc.) are out but green, electric blue or purple shades will remain throughout the winter.
