DIY Vlogging

So, whether you’re in it for the cash, or fancy yourself as the next You Tube version of Gok Wan (minus the boob grabbing and naked stuff) then why not try your hand at becoming the latest beauty or fashion guru, YouTube style.

Low budget, instantaneous and international, the vlogging craze is showing little sign of slowing down. So bring on the bargains and dig out the camcorder, I think I’m ready for my close up.

If you fancy trying your own vlog, here are Lauren Luke’s top tips for vlogging success...

How to make your own fashion or beauty vlog a success

1. Try to keep in touch with your viewers, answer their requests, and listen to their feedback.

2. Keep the videos short, sweet and consistent.  Too long and even the most ardent of fans will switch off.

3. Choose your channel name wisely, as you won’t be able to change it later.  If you have an idea of what you think it might become, go along those lines so people know what the channel’s about.

4. To keep your vlogs fresh and engaging, avoid trying to make them too polished, and never work from a script.  Spontaneity is the key.

5. Update with new videos regularly so your viewers feel there is a presence there.  If you’re planning to head off on holiday for a fortnight, tell them!
