Autumn - Winter
Dazzling down coats to ward off the frost

How do we choose?

What to look for when choosing your coat

Buying a winter coat is a big commitment. Our lovely Canadian climate guarantees that you're stuck with it for a long time. The important thing is to do your homework and work out a budget. Be prepared to spend anywhere from $300 to $1500 for a quality coat.

1-   The composition
The higher the down concentration, the warmer the coat. For example, Penfield coats are roughly 80% down and 20% feather.
2-    Water-resistant
Will your coat absorb the snow? That's a big no-no. Make sure the outer material contains nylon.
3-    Buttons or zipper?
Buttons are very cute but they let in the chill. When in doubt, go for the zipper.
4-    It's all in the details
A lot of coats have removable hoods. Practicality aside, a fur hood is pretty, stylish and warm!
