Osman and the Prime Minister's Wife

Osman lured the crowds at the British Fashion Council tents.

The scene was like that a football crowd except marginally less rowdy and with Chambord cocktails instead of cans of Stella.

And the nearest thing to a team scarf was the two or three McQueen skull scarves we saw paraded proudly.

As we contemplated whether a cocktail before midday was entirely appropriate, we threw caution to the wind - if fashion dictates a cocktail, who are we to say no?

One of our favourite shows of the week so far, Osman brought modesty back to the catwalks.

Like the anti-Herve Leger, his a/w10 collection is understated and sexy with hemlines skimming the floor and fluid silks replacing corset-like bandaging and strapping.

The show opened with a posse of models stalking the catwalk in navy draped jersey gowns - like the Sex and the City ladies heading out for a night in New York.

Oversized overcoats were paired with wide palazzo trousers and taupe leather sheath dresses found a friend in giant American ranger-style hats.

Prime minister’s wife Sarah Brown sat front row, appropriate as Osman’s show notes explored his fascination with powerful female figures. Mrs Brown is certainly establishing herself as a powerful champion of British fashion.
