Sitting quietly among the other major Paris fashion houses, Chloé has established itself as a luxury clothing label that produces classic style with a touch of modern glamour.

As an alternative to haute couture, Egyptian-born Gaby Aghion launched Chloé with the first prêt-à-porter collection in 1952. Aghion’s bohemian spirit flowed though her designs, shying away from the stiffness of ‘50s fashion, she created soft feminine pieces to accommodate the everyday woman.

Recognising a gap in the market for wearable clothing the rest of the fashion houses followed.

The label has a long history with hiring young talented designers who have each contributed to the growth and popularity of Chloé. Karl Lagerfeld, Martine Sitbon, Stella McCartney and Hannah Macgibbon have managed to maintain the elegant design principle despite their varied training and nationalities.

Gaby Aghion and her business partner Jacques Lenoir felt the name Chloé was perfect for its feminine appeal as it captured the youthful mood of Paris at the time.

For more than fifty years Chloé has kept Gaby's vision of romantic, feminine chic.
