For fashion week we saw the spring/summer 2010 collection streamed live onto the Internet. Christopher Bailey showcased a new version of the 'Housecheck' on the same catwalk, perhaps finally putting the design's chav associations firmly in the past.
With the launch of the latest advertising campaign in 2009, we see the same collection all over the World Wide Web with Emma Watson taking her starring role again in behind-the-scenes videos on Youtube and Facebook.
Burberry is divesting itself of its negative brand image and stepping back into the light. Aside from checkered accessories and gorgeous trench coats, Burberry has emerged as a leading light in women's, men's and even children's high-end fashion.
The Burberry collection is one of structure and neat yet casual lines in a muted, sophisticated, laid back palette. Layering of slouchy fabric in knots and folds is big news and relaxed rouching appears on everything from socks to skirts to the new trench designs.
The old-school brand is continuing to push boundaries and with a heady mixture of utility and high design it looks set to spend another 150 years battling on fashion’s frontlines.
