Vionnet, c. 1924, (cape) - Silk velvet and silver lame.
"Madame Vionnet (1876-1975) was the master of simplicity and cut, and one of the most important designers of the 20th century. She opened a fashion house in Paris in 1912 and retired in 1939."
"Her labels were marked with her thumbprint in an effort to discourage forgeries. The cape was a drawstring at the neck to give it shape. The inset silver lame forms at the hips are repeated in velvet on the lame lining."
