The first show of the day was a double whammy with James Long and Carolyn Massey, both Royal College of Art MA graduates. Long was first up with a collection of pieces inspired by Andy Warhol’s Oxidation 1978 artwork. His palette was a series of coppery oranges and greens alongside sheeny black leather and latex. Camouflage prints, traditional and distorted, mirrored the colours and shapes of oxidation and a metallic sheen peers out from under wide black gothic knits. More fall/winter in its aesthetic; the addition of oversized shorts and tie-dye denim among the leather and knitwear gave more of a spring/summer feel to Long’s collection.

Carolyn Massey sent her collection down the catwalk to the sounds of Inner City’s Good Life, which had the audience tapping their pens against their notebooks. This season Massey has focused on the outdoors for her collection of utilitarian pieces. Casual parkas, trench coats and a wax jacket with built-in backpack are just some of the more practical pieces that feature alongside double-breasted lilac suits and tailored shorts. Muted navy and olive are interrupted by the occasional burst of mustard yellow and tricolor belts - a very cool collection that will appeal to dandy fellows and dapper gents alike.
