London Fashion Week SS2010: Day One

Back at the On|Off venue, Bernard Chandran was channeling a princess of a different kind - an exotic member of an oriental palace.

In luxurious tones of gold and bronze, Bernard continued his tradition of playing with shape and form.

Corsets cinched the waists whilst folds of fabric created futuristic, fantastical shapes plucked from sci-fi.

Hannibal Lecter-style restraint masks hid models' faces - only the fashion version was jewel-encrusted, of course.
At 25 years old, London Fashion Week hardly needed a makeover and yet this relocation to Somerset House seems to have revitalized the event.

London, as ever, will be unearthing new talent and rediscovering old favourites in and around the stately setting of Somerset House.
