Shauna James Ahern started Gluten-Free Girl
—now a cookbook, as well—after being diagnosed with celiac disease in 2005. The diagnosis changed her life. Learning about celiac disease and avoiding gluten allowed her to feel healthy for the first time in years.
It also inspired an immense culinary adventure, which she began to blog about as a way to share her experience with the disease. The blog tells the story of how Shauna re-fell in love with food (and fell in love with her husband, the chef, along the way).
