How big should my turkey be?

A 2kg turkey will feed around 4 people, 4kg up to 8 people, 6kg up to 12 etc.

Normally each person will eat between 100 and 150g of turkey per serving but you have to factor in the bones as well when choosing your bird. As a general rule, it’s roughly 500g per person but naturally it depends how big your appetites are...

Don’t go too overboard though. The Christmas dinner plate are often full before you’ve even served the turkey – roast potatoes and parsnips, stuffing, carrots, sprouts, veg, gravy, pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce... and there’s still dessert.
