Early pregnancy symptoms

Discharge

Yuck, we know! Not something you want to think about but it's a fact that some women notice a little discharge in their underwear in the first weeks of pregnancy.

Increased hormone levels encourage vaginal secretions after conception so this is one of the very first changes you might notice.

Usually watery, this discharge is perfectly normal and can appear anywhere in the colour scale from white to golden. Pink or red discharge is more likely to be spotting or implantation bleeding.

If you usually experience discharge you may notice that it has increased.

This discharge is usually mild smelling and milky but if it's unpleasant and fishy smelling, frothy, yellow or greenish or thick and cloudy then visit your GP as this may be a sign of infection instead.

Vaginal pain, soreness and itching along with difficulty in urinating are also red flags and you should consult your GP to get it sorted as soon as possible.
