Holiday reels: Movie magic for the whole family

It's A Wonderful Life (1946)

 - It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
Jimmy Stewart plays George Bailey, a man who has systematically given up his dreams to help his family and fellow townspeople of Bedford Falls, N.Y.

When George stares into the abyss one Christmas Eve prepared to give up all hope, angels Joseph and Franklin send down Clarence Odbody, Angel Second Class, to help him.

The movie brings us back through George's habit of giving up his dream of traveling the world to run the Bailey Buildings and Loans Association, an essential town institution which risks being usurped by the cruel Henry F. Potter (a.k.a Old Man Potter). In an attempt to prove to George how much he is valued, Clarence shows him what the world  would be like if he had never been born (Hint: it's bad).

Aside from teaching your child that every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings, this movie will become a family holiday staple that you'll watch over and over and over again.
