If you’re not so much of an outdoors-y family, and prefer to snuggle up in the warm, spend a day crafting instead. A simple search on the Internet will produce literally thousands of craft ideas for children, and if the weather allows, why not collect things from the garden or park to use in your artwork?

Lizz Reeves, mum to toddler Daisy says, ‘we enjoy going for treasure hunts in the park, then bring home her finds and stick them in her scrapbook.

Sometimes we do bark rubbings as well; she really loves creating things from her nature stash.’
