Inspirational Women: Kate Amarnani

After two years at the Big Breakfast, Kate became a TV researcher: “It was a natural progression, everyone starts as runners, then I started researching, to becoming an Assistant Producer to Producer. Like everyone, I just worked my way up.”
After a few years producing CD:UK, then Pepsi Chart in Miami, it was time to come back to Blighty. Now freelance, she uses her expert knowledge to create bespoke content for different clients, all building on her massive bank of music, entertainment and celebrity contacts – plus renowned knack for getting into any red carpet, VIP or sold out event.

For Kate the biggest perk of being a TV producer is the freedom and creativity.
“It’s really creative and no show is the same,” she explains. “It never gets dull!”
Self employed and working project by project is tough, “You have to be able to prove yourself at each company that you work at – over and over again. You’re only ever as good as your last show.”
What advice does she have for those who want to work in TV?
“Watch a lot of TV and decide what kind of programming really interests you."

"There’s no point starting out on T4 if your passion is wildlife. Some see TV as glamorous and it can be on occasion, however it’s mostly long hours, tight budgets and nightmare talent. But it’s also a great laugh!”
Kate’s latest project brings her experience and celebrity contacts together, in a new entertainment and competition website, Miss Win It, where users win prizes that give them a piece of the showbiz world.
Miss Win It came about when Kate and fellow co-founder Ramsay Khoury started working together…”we realized there was a huge gap in the market” for people to win exclusive prizes and experiences like the ones she was offered as part of her day job.
The Miss Win It website which launches this month, offers exciting “money can’t buy,’ ‘once in a lifetime’ prizes that anyone can win – from celebrity favourite handbags, to exclusive festival tickets, while keeping them entertained with gossip content.”
Sounds like it could be our new favourite website!
