Halle Berry biography and accomplishments
> Who is she?
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Halle Berry is a former beauty queen (winning the Miss Teen All-American Pageant in her late teens!) who converted to acting.
She made her acting debut in a Spike Lee film and since then has landed a series of roles in major films, particularly in the X-Men films and James Bond.
Halle Berry, whose private life is often given a lot of media coverage, has also spoken out against domestic violence, which she has suffered from on several occasions in the past.
Halle Berry was the first African American woman to receive an Oscar for Best Actress. She received it in 2002 for her role in Monster's Ball in which she played the wife of a man sentenced to death.
Halle Berry undoubtedly has a great sense of humour: in 2005, she was awarded the Worst Actress award at the Razzie Awards and went up to accept it with her Oscar in her hand!
