The first date

The first date

We’ll start at the very beginning, because it’s a very good place to start, as Julie Andrews would say. The first date is quite obviously a landmark date for any potential relationship. A good first date will hopefully lead to a great second date, an amazing third date and then who knows what else?

Here are our top tips for a great first date:
Keep it casual
This is not the date to test a new venue, a new pair of shoes or a new line of conversation. Anything you can do to stay relaxed will help you be yourself.

Do your homework
If you met through a friend, as them what your date is interested in. If you met online, re-read all your emails. If you met in a bar, try to remember what you talked about on the night!

Stay positive
Even if you’ve had the worst day at work ever, you need to slap on a happy face for your date. Channel your inner Little Miss Sunshine, because no one wants to date a misery guts.

Don’t get drunk
A couple of glasses of wine is fine – it can be a good way to relax. A couple of bottles of wine is another matter, and a great way to ensure you don’t get a second date.
