What is commitment phobia?

"Some fear and hesitation about making commitments is good. We should be cautious before we act," says Lyn. "It's called 'emotional maturity'. We make better decisions if we take our time to think before acting."

Commitment phobia is when that hesitation goes on for a little bit (or a lot!) too long.

If you haven't got commitment phobia, you might find it tricky to understand what's going on inside a commitment phobe's head. After all, why would anyone not want to commit to you?

According to Lyn, there are lots of things that a commitment phobe might be scared of, including being out of pocket when they have a partner, of family and friends disapproving, or of getting bored of the relationship.
