Horoscopes in the media

Newspaper and magazine horoscopes are not always a bad thing, and they aren't always detrimental to the wider subject of astrology either.

As Ahsan explains: "These horoscopes have piqued interest in the subject and those who enjoy reading their sun sign forecasts can either leave it as something entertaining or go on to have an astrologer do a proper reading for them and/or begin to study the subject themselves."

Although astrologer Faye Cossar agrees that "It keeps astrology in the public focus", she also suggests that the media industry has done astrology no favours.

"Newspapers are not interested in good articles on astrology because they only ask for predictions. Most people only get to see sun sign stuff and that is partly our fault but mostly the fault of the media who are only, ‘allowed’, in some cases to use it for entertainment."
